We are now reviewing the feedback received. More info to come soon!

Our communities are already feeling the impact of Climate change through increased extreme weather events causing heatwaves, droughts, bushfires and coastal erosion. An increase beyond 1.5 degrees is expected to have extremely serious consequences including loss of land from sea level rise, loss of biodiversity, impacts on health and well-being, loss of water resources and other impacts.

Local governments have the capacity to influence activities that contribute up to 50% of our national greenhouse gas emissions. By working with the local community we can make a real difference.

Following the Climate Action Summit in May 2019, this draft plan has been developed in partnership with the community and identifies a wide range of actions to be undertaken by the Shire. This includes assisting the community to reduce emissions and achieve carbon reduction targets.
