Draft Revised Local Planning Policy 3 - Extractive Industries
Submissions for this proposal have now closed.
Modifications are proposed to the Local Planning Policy 3 (LPP3). Draft revised LPP3 is more robust than the current version, aims to clarify identified ambiguities on relation to buffer distances, incorporates additional environmental and amenity controls and acknowledges State Planning Policy 2.4 – Planning for Basic Raw Materials (SPP2.4) and the Planning for Basic Raw Materials Guidelines (the Guidelines). Below is a summary of the key changes:
Clarification of the required buffer distances for Gravel Extraction;
Enhanced environmental controls;
Enhanced amenity controls;
Expansion of policy objectives;
New section in policy addressing its relationship with relevant state legislation;
Enhanced and amended performance criteria;
Introduction of compliance controls;
Expansion of definitions; and
Incorporation of the provision of SPP2.4 and the associated guidelines.
