Update on the progress for the Local Heritage Survey

The Shire has received multiple nominations from the community for new Heritage Places during the consultation period. Following investigations by a Heritage Consultant the Shire is happy to present nine (9) new place records to be added to the revamped ‘Local Heritage Survey (LHS)’ formerly known as the Municipal Heritage Inventory.

The new places have been allocated a ’Level of Significance’ and the place records provide detail about their cultural heritage significance.

The LHS itself has no direct statutory role in respect to Development and Building processes but serve however to inform the Local Heritage List.

The following sites have been nominated to be included on the Local Heritage Survey and Heritage List:

  1. Rosa Glen School site, House, Tree and Pioneers’ Memorial (Currently CWA Rosa Glen)
  2. Margaret River Organic Community Garden
  3. Caves Road
  4. Wadandi Track Bridge (AKA Bridge over Rails to Trails)
  5. Olive Hill Farm

The following sites have been nominated to be included on the Local Heritage Survey only:

  1. Flinders Bay Jetty
  2. Issacs’ Fence
  3. Oak Tree on Memorial Park
  4. Le Souef Boatshed

The draft record place forms can be viewed on the Shire Website by clicking here.

The Shire are currently liaising with the relevant landowners, following which a report will be presented to Council for final adoption.
