We'd like to hear from community members and visitors to the Augusta Margaret River area who may have experienced or are interested in homelessness in the South West region. The Shire is currently developing a Homelessness & Crisis Accommodation Strategy to support the development of a whole-of-community response to this issue.

A definition

Homelessness is defined as being without a ‘home’ that provides a sense of security, stability, privacy, safety, and the ability to control the living space. This can include sleeping rough on the street, in a car, tent or caravan, an overcrowded house, couch surfing, a refuge, or a boarding house.

Within Augusta Margaret River, we have a high transient population and many who choose to live in temporary forms of accommodation. However there are also many locals and families who struggle to source long term and affordable housing in our region and the focus of this work is to develop a community response to this issue.

What can I do?

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below before Friday 10 June 2016.

If you wish to do so in person, you can do so at the Margaret River Community Centre, 21-33 Tunbridge St, Margaret River. Opening hours are 9am – 1pm, Monday to Friday.
