DAP Application - Lot 9015 John Archibald Drive, Margaret River

We are seeking community feedback for the proposed Childcare Premises at Lot 9015 John Archibald Drive, Margaret River.

Background

The Shire has received a development application for a Childcare Premises at Lot 9015 John Archibald Drive, Margaret River, which will be determined by the Development Assessment Panel (DAP).

Development that is valued over $2 million is eligible to be determined by the DAP, which is a pathway chosen by the landowner or developer. The Shire’s role in this process is to provide advice and recommendations, and write the Responsible Authority Report (RAR), but the application won’t formally go before Council, and the final decision will rest with the DAP panel. The DAP panels comprise of five members appointed by the Minister for Planning: three specialist technical experts and two local government councillors.

About the Proposal

The proposed development is for a site on the corner of Leschenaultia Avenue and Mecklenberg Drive. The bulk of the site has been indicated as a Childcare Site within the approved Local Development Plan (LDP), however the subject proposal also incorporates two residential zoned lots abutting the site. The proposal includes:

  • A single-storey building of 630sqm internal area on a 2,722sqm site
  • A proposed number of 82 places and 14 staff
  • Onsite parking of 22 spaces
  • The Childcare Premises proposes to operate Monday to Friday between 6:30am – 6:30pm.
