New Local Planning Strategy Now Available

The Shire’s new Local Planning Strategy, which is the key guiding document for future development and land use in the Shire has been given final endorsement by the West Australian Planning Commission.

Approval was granted in November 2021 subject to amendments, which have now been completed and signed off.

This is the final step in a process that started in 2018, with the strategy now approved to guide population change, the look and feel of neighbourhoods, towns and natural areas over the next 15 years.

See a full copy of the new strategy here.

With the completion of the Local Planning Strategy, preparations will begin for advertising the Shire’s updated Local Planning Scheme, the planning rules that align with the vision set in the Strategy. Approval to advertise has been given by the Environmental Protection Authority, with West Australian Planning Commission approval to advertise expected in the coming months.

People can register at the Strategy and Scheme project page here for further details when the Scheme is advertised.
