Project overview

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is reviewing several of its local planning policies to make sure they are up to date, easy to understand, and reflect the needs of our community. These policies guide how development happens across the Shire — including things like buildings, fencing, signage, and short-term rentals.

As part of this process, Council is proposing updates to a number of existing policies. Community feedback is an important part of this process, and residents are encouraged to have their say below.

Notice of Publication – Local Planning Policies

At its Ordinary Meeting held on the 22 April 2026, Council resolved to proceed with amendments to the following Local Planning Policies:

- LPP1 Outbuildings, Farming Buildings and Swimming Pools
- LPP2 Design Review
- LPP3 Extractive Industries
- LPP4 Boundary Fencing
- LPP6 Jetties (previously LPP11)
- LPP7 Short Term Rental Accommodation
- LPP10 Mobile Food Businesses (previously LPP13)
- LPP11 Exemptions from Development Approval (previously LPP17)
- LPP12 Witchcliffe Eco Village (previously LPP22)
- LPP13 Signage (previously LPP26)
- LPP14 Heritage Places (previously LPP27)

In accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, public notice is hereby given of the amendments to these policies.
