Major review of Scheme and Local Planning Strategy begins

On the 9 April, Council resolved:….pursuant to Regulation 66(3) of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 to recommend to the Western Australian Planning Commission that:

1. The Shire of Augusta Margaret River Local Planning Strategy should be reviewed to ensure that it addresses contemporary planning, economic, social and environmental issues as will be informed by a comprehensive consultation process; and

2. The Shire of Augusta Margaret River Planning Scheme No.1 should be amended to accord with a revised Strategy.

A series of public workshops will soon commence which will assist Shire staff to prepare amendments to the Scheme and Strategy.
