The State and Commonwealth Governments have made commitments to reduce carbon emissions over the next decade and a large part of this commitment will be achieved by shifting electricity production to renewable sources.

The decision to approve the development of large scale renewable energy projects is usually made by the State Government but the Shire believes that by understanding community attitudes regarding renewable energy they can better represent its residents on this topic. This may result in a policy or similar document to guide Shire decisions.
