We don't buy wrapping paper, gift tags or any plasticky gimcrackery decoration type items. We reuse gift bags each year, wrap in old paper of any kind (old newspapers, magazines, calendars, whatever) and decorate with fresh and dried flowers, gumnuts leaves etc.
we use large marri leaves for gift tags.

My favourite way to recuce my waste footprint over the festive season is to stay away from single use plastic when i'm hosting gatherings. Using real plates, cutlery and glasses is so much more enjoyable. The washing up doesn't really take that long and my guests always appreciate it.
