Works Commencing on Witchcliffe Courts!
Works will commence on 25 March 2026 to resurface the Witchcliffe Tennis Courts.
The project will be completed in two stages. The asphalt works will be undertaken on 25 and 26 March. Once completed, the new asphalt will require approximately one month to cure before the acrylic playing surface can be applied.
The works are being completed by a specialist contractor with experience in tennis court surfacing, ensuring the courts provide a safe, high‑quality playing surface for the community.
To ensure a high‑quality finish and the long‑term durability of the courts, we kindly ask that the community does not use the courts during the construction period.
Thank you for your patience while we deliver improved facilities for Witchcliffe for many years to come.
Concept Plan
Two concept plans were prepared incorporating the multi-use courts, a playspace, picnic tables, a shelter and landscaping. Community members voted on their preferred orientation of the multi-purpose courts - there was unanimous support for the north-south orientation.

Background
Thanks to our Leisure Planning and Public Open Space strategy community consultation, Witchy residents let us know their play priorities for town. You can read more about the full Leisure Plan and Public Open Space strategy online.

The project will deliver a new nature playground, upgraded tennis and multi-use courts, replacement fencing, new picnic seating, shade structure, BBQ facilities, and pathway improvements. Take a look at some of the play space images of what's to come soon...
These enhancements follow extensive community consultation, during which local businesses requested that works begin after Easter 2025 to minimise disruption. In response, the Shire has aligned the project timeline accordingly, with completion anticipated by July 2025.
The upgrade forms part of the Shire’s ongoing commitment to community wellbeing and recreation and aligns with both the Leisure Plan and Public Open Space Strategy.
Funding for the new playground has been made possible through a partnership between the Australian Government and the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.
What's next?
We are getting quotes together and planning for construction to occur in May 2025. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the planned construction in May 2025 was postponed.
Further project updates and progress photos, will be posted to this page.
