The Draft Age Friendly Community Plan 2023-2027 has been informed by feedback we received from seniors living in our community and the World Health Organisation Age Friendly Cites Framework.
The Plan outlines objectives and actions which will guide how the Shire provides meaningful support for seniors in our community over the next four years.

What is an Age Friendly Community?
An Age-Friendly community is one that recognises the great diversity among older people, promotes their inclusion and contribution in all areas of community life, respects their decisions and lifestyle choices and anticipates and responds to age related needs and preferences.
The World Health Organisation identifies 8 key areas that influence the quality of life and wellbeing for older people:
Outdoor spaces and buildings
Transport
Housing
Social participation
Respect and social inclusion
Civic participation and employment
Communication and information
Community support and health services

The Asking About Age Friendly survey will be open from October 25 to December 16.
Analysis and Drafting the Plan
Draft Age Friendly Community Plan 2023-2027 has finished this stage
During this stage we will gather and analyse all feedback we receive to draft the new Age Friendly Plan.
Council Endorsement of the Draft Age Friendly Plan
Draft Age Friendly Community Plan 2023-2027 has finished this stage
The first draft of the Age Friendly Plan will be presented to council for endorsement.
Community Comment on the Draft Age Friendly Plan
Draft Age Friendly Community Plan 2023-2027 is currently at this stage
The draft Age Friendly Plan is available for public comment to test the draft Plan.
Council Endorsement of the Final Plan
this is an upcoming stage for Draft Age Friendly Community Plan 2023-2027
Feedback from the second round of community engagement will be considered and necessary changes will be made to the plan. The final draft of the Age Friendly Plan will be taken to Council for endorsement.
Implementation of the Age Friendly Plan
this is an upcoming stage for Draft Age Friendly Community Plan 2023-2027
The Age Friendly Plan will be presented back to the community in early 2024.
