Update: final design landscape scheme

The detailed design for the Main Street Redevelopment Project is well advanced incorporating feedback from our extensive community consultation and strong community support.

Following feedback from the community a few of the key changes are:

  • a dedicated cycle lane on the uphill ( eastern ) side of the street and shared lane for cyclists on the downhill (western) side of the street
  • an ACROD bay adjacent to Pharmacy 777 and an additional ACROD bay in the Festival precinct
  • two new pedestrian crossing points in the River Precinct
  • increased public open space in the new town square including water and power outlets to support events
  • parklets for increased alfresco opportunities
  • opportunities for community input into street furniture including parklets , planter boxes and 'story telling' in the paving
  • retaining grassed areas in Reuther Park for informal recreation
  • addressing traffic issues and pedestrian access issues at the Tunbridge/Churchill Bussell Hwy intersection
