Where can I park?

We encourage people to ride share or bike/scooter/skateboard/walk into town for the event, however if you do need to drive in, parking will be available in the peripheral streets and near Gloucester Park Oval behind the Augusta Margaret River Shire buildings. Check the accompanying map to view possible parking locations.

Will shops be open as usual?

Many of the main street traders will be participating in Extended Trading until 7pm on the night of the event. This is our opportunity to share the love with our favourite local businesses, many of which we may not have visited in a while.

What time will the street be closed from?

Bussell Highway will be closed off from Tunbridge Street to Wallcliffe Road from 11am to 11pm on Friday 29 January. You will not be able to park on the street from 6am on the event date. This will allow ample time for set up and pack down of the event. Traffic Management teams will be on the street from 6am, blocking off car parks on Bussell Highway to ensure the street is emptied before 11am. Please note that any cars left on the street after 11am will not be able to be driven out and may be towed away, so please take care that morning (and the night before) with your planning.

    Where can I buy food?

You’re encouraged to visit one of the many main street traders to purchase your food on the night. A number of businesses will be offering alfresco dining on the street directly in front of their venue, as well as takeaway food options which allow you to stroll the street and enjoy the entertainment. We encourage you to support local. Reuther Park will be set up as a picnic area with lawn games and live music, so we encourage you to bring a blanket and grab a seat on the grass to sit and enjoy your food.

What activities will be on offer?

The whole of the Margs Main Street will be alive with live music, live art, roving entertainment, a youth chillout zone, tarp surfing, an art market, street performers and kids activities. There will be five key activation zones:

    • Reuther Park will be a picnic area with lawn games and live music by Doghouse Collective and Burke & Wise
    • Town Square will host an Art Market, with live art being created by local artists
    • Cockatoo Mural Carpark - children’s activities such as boomerang decorating with Undalup Association
    • Fearn Avenue Festival precinct – Welcome to Country, youth chillout zone, live music, tarp surfing and DJ set by Kachina
    • Live music stages between Target Arcade and IGA, with performances by Beeva Feeva, Bunnyjuice, Salt Tree and Blackwood Morris, as well as pop-up activation by Spark Creatives and children’s activities.

Check the Facebook event page for set times and updates.

Is this a family friendly event?

Absolutely! The Margs Street Party is suitable for all ages, and there will be entertainment for everyone. Children’s activities will be offered by Undalup Assocation in the Cockatoo Mural carpark, lawn games will be offered in Reuther Park, plus roving entertainment will be entertaining the little ones all afternoon up and down the street.

What COVID-19 safety measures are in place?

The event management team have worked with Augusta Margaret River Shire and WA Health to ensure the event meets all necessary COVID safety measures. We ask that you sign in using the Safe WA app – you’ll see the QR code posted on signage along the main street, as well as hard-copy contact registers at various entry points. Look out for COVID Safety Marshals on the day, who will be wearing bright pink and making sure that the necessary requirements are met, so please treat them with respect and take their lead. We ask all attendees to practice good respiratory hygiene, wash/sanitise hands regularly and keep your distance. If you become unwell while at the event, please notify one of the COVID Safety Marshals. We appreciate your help in keeping WA safe.
